A Water Butt That Actually Works!
Most water butts are poor quality, ugly and inefficient. Conventional water butts only collect a small amount of rainwater from the diverter as it runs down the downpipe with the majority of it ending up in the drain. The Prestige water butt is different, it collects the rainwater flowing down the downpipe until full and then overflows.
Biggest is not always the best or the most effective in collecting rainwater. The more you can store the better. The UK has short intense bursts of rainfall in the summer when rainwater is needed the most. This means that with conventional water butts the diverter throttles the flow before the water butt is full meaning precious rainwater is lost down the down pipe when it is needed the most.

Every house should have one
Why we should all be saving water!
Water is a very limited resource. Of all of the water that exists on Planet Earth, less than 1 percent of it is usable fresh water
Climate change, and the more extreme weather that comes with it, means that water supply is becoming more unpredictable than in years gone by.
Increased frequency of drought across Europe lines up with climate projections. Water is an international issue, but the UK’s reputation for a rainy climate distracts from how the relationship between rainfall and the water available to us really works.
Water companies capture much less rain for our use than people commonly assume, with parts of the UK already subject to water stress. In fact, 12 out of the 23 water companies operating in areas of England are rated as being under ‘serious’ stress.
Water is also intrinsically linked to energy. But most of us underestimate the energy water companies need to treat and pump water into homes –
To make matters more urgent, UK water demand is set to rise in the next few years, so it’s getting even more important to make the most of what we have.
The Benefits of Having a Water Butt

Need more than One Water Container?
Do you need more water storage? No problem! You can connect up to three water containers filling up from a single fall pipe. Each water container is connected together will fill up simultaneously collecting even more rainwater. Once the water containers are full, the rainwater simply drains away back down the fall pipe. Furthermore you can have them installed on the same wall or on alternative walls

Rainwater is free and can be used for many things including irrigation, flushing toilets and even to supply water for the the washing machine as long as appropriate filtration has taken place.
You don’t necessarily need to empty a water butt providing you keep the water moving with regular fresh rainwater. You could consider adding a water butt treatment especially if your water butt is positioned in direct sun light, or it doesn’t get used frequently. If you don’t use your water butt frequently it would be a good idea to empty the water butt every 10 days to keep the water fresh.
The most eco-friendly water butts have been made using recycled plastic which could otherwise have been sent to landfill. Water butts help us use less tap water which requires a lot of energy and chemicals to treat and purify.
It costs nothing to collect and store a constant supply of rainwater to use (other than the initial cost of the water butt).
It is absolutely worth having a water butt!
Having your own water butt will allow you to collect and store rainwater to use on your plants and around your garden.
Water butts help us reduce our carbon footprint by using less tap water which requires a tremendous amount of energy to treat. Furthermore, it can help you save money on your water bill.
It’s worth noting that rainwater is much better for your garden than tap water, which contains chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride.
